Beautiful images in an artistic language

LUO Xiao-suo (Department of Chinese, Yunnan Normal University, Kunming 650092, China)
Images in an artistic language come from a world of nothingness. They are by no means purely objective, but rather, they are blended into a congenial whole in which subjective feelings and hard facts go hand in hand. They also contribute to depth of images. An artistic language is characterized by a balance not only between an outer appearance and inner spirit, but also between feelings and reason. Although emerged from reality, it goes not only beyond reality, but also beyond the speakers themselves. And the images are allways built upon an all round description of meanings. It does not read frivolous when examined at hand, not does it look limited when put in a distance. In short, you’ll feel that the language sends out a lively air, which never lingers over things that are dead. They display an inspiring power, which will greatly narrow the gap between a speaker and the listener. It helps to build up a vivid atmosphere, express spirit on the part of the speaker and shows the true beauty of a language.
