Social development and cultural consciousness

WANG Yu zhou (Department of Philosophy, Nankai University, Tianjin 300071, China)  
It is a dialectical unified mutual process between social development and cultural consciousness. Social development promotes cultural progress and includes it also, and cultural progress accelerates soical development and reflects it also. Hence social development can’t depart from cultural consciousness. The reality of social development in the 20th century raveals the significauce of cultural in social development, and the change of views about soccial development is a theoretical expression of it. This change demonstrates: The real development is in accordance with cultural progress, and only the social development established on the foundation of cultural consciousness has internal meaning of development. Present China is in the epoch of social transformation. It seems especially urgent to heighten cultural consciousness and to accelerate social development.
