Automatic Power Distribution Experimental System Based on IEC 60870-5-101 Protocol

Guo Kai Tao Weiqing (Department of Electrical Engineering and Automation in Hefei University of Technology, Hefei 230009)  
It's a SCADA system for distribution automatization. A SCADA software coded with VC++6.0 has been installed to the upper layer computer, so the computer can simulate and monitor the system, and make communication with the lower layer computer through the serial ports RS485. The lower layer computer is composed of automatic power distribution system remote terminal —— FTU, and it can supply lots of real-time data such as voltage, current, active power and reactive power to the server station. When some faults appear in lines, the FTU can detect it. Then the server station will search the locations, isolate the areas and reconfigure the distribution network. It has been proved that this set of equipment can imitate the industry control field as exactly as possible, and it's simple to manipulate and is very suitable for students to do experiments.
