Improving the relay contact anti surge capacity of a new bypass protection circuit

In the electrical equipment of the spacecraft,the majority of devices are powered by the DC-DC modules,and some of the equipment are directly from the primary power source,while sometimes the DC-DC modules are supplied as the power load also by a power supply.When the DC-DC modules and on-board electrical equipment are powered up suddenly,there may be a greater start-up current.The inrush current may reach hundreds of amps,if not effectively controlled,it is possible to cause damage or even adhesion on relay contacts in the supply chain and distribution equipment.This article is based on the perspective of the practical application of the system,and a novel anti-inrush current protection circuitry is introduced to improve the ability of relay contacts,which could ensure the relay contacts to avoid the impact by the surge current and to meet the high reliability requirements for the relay for aerospace products.
