Clinical Study about 30 Cases of Wheezing Pneumonia Intervened with γ-IFN

Objective:To explore the same mechanism between wheezing pneumonia and asthma, and evaluate the effect of early intervention with γ-IFN. Methods: Serum IgE concentrations were measured with ELISA way in 30 infants with asthma and 30 infants with common pneumonia and 30 healthy controls and 60 infants with wheezing pneumonia. There was no statistical difference in age and sex in each group. All the wheezing pneumonia infants were observed terms of wheezing and duration of hospitalization and followed -up. We chose t test,χ~2test according to statistics.Results:(1)Seurm IgE concentrations were significantly higher in wheezing pneumonia and asthma than other groups, but no difference was found between wheezing pneumonia and asthma. (2)Seurm IgE level was significantly lower after γ-IFN intervention, terms of wheezing and duration of hospitalization were shortened.(3)In the following 9 months, the rate of becoming asthma was significantly lower in γ-IFN intervention group than no γ-IFN intervention group. Conclusion: The wheezing pneumonia infant has the same higher serum IgE level as asthma infant, γ-IFN can reduce serum IgE level, shorten the duration of hospitalization and bring down the risk of becoming asthma.
