Holdaway Cephalometric Analysis of Soft-tissue Profile in Children with Normal Occlusion and Beautiful Profile

Objective: To study the morphological characteristic of the craniomaxillofacial soft-tissue in population with normal occlusion and beautiful profile, and to provide guide for orthodontic clinic to create esthetic profile with individual character. Methods: According to the lip type standard of type Ⅱ, type Ⅲ1 and type Ⅲ2 in Chen's lip type classification, 30 teenagers (12 males and 18 females) with beautiful profile were selected from 104 teenagers with normal occlusion. Holdaway cephalometric analysis method was used to analyze their radiographs. Results: The normal values of Holdaway cephalometric analysis method were established. Conclusion: Although both male and female genders have similar craniomaxillofacial morphological characteristic, there still exists some differences. To understand the developmental characteristic of the craniomaxillofacial region in population with normal occlusion and beautiful profile is contributed to clinical diagnosis and treatment planning.
