Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the rate-limiting enzyme in metabolism of triglyceride. Its changes in activity and content can affect its stearolysis function and the lipid metabolism and distribution in whole body, which then resulted in blood fat disorder, hypertriglyceridemia and low level of HDL.These are all the basis of insulin resistance and atherogenesis.Meanwhile,LPL has contradictive effect in the genesis of thses two pathological process.
