Research Progress in Survival Mechanism of Brucella in the Host Cells

Brucella is a facultative intracellular bacterium. Brucellosis,caused by the infection,is a serious zoonosis and results in animal abortion,sterility and local lesions of various tissues. Brucella cannot produce exotoxins,is absent of plasmids or spore forming. Although lack of these typical pathogenic factors,Brucella have strong invasion force,and strong survival and reproduction ability in the host cells. The target parasitic cells of Brucella mainly include macrophages,placental trophoblastic cells,dendritic cells,etc. Therefore,the research of the intracellular survival and replication mechanism of Brucella can provide important clues for the study of pathogenesis of brucelosis.
