Objective To investigate the effect of mitral valve repair( MVP) together with tricuspid valvuloplasty( TVP) on the survival rate and regurgitation of the patients with tricuspid regurgitation. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 86 patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation combined with mild functional tricuspid regurgitation who underwent surgical treatment in Handan Central Hospital from Feb. 2009 to Feb. 2013. The patients were divided into a MVP group( 46 cases) and a MVP + TVP group( 40 cases) according to the surgery approach. The postoperative tricuspid regurgitation degree, cardiac function NYHA classification improvement and 5-year survival rate of the two groups were observed. Results There was no perioperative death or severe complication. The postoperative echocardiography prompted tricuspid regurgitation of the MVP + TVP group( no regurgitation 8 cases, trace regurgitation 12 cases, mild regurgitation 20 cases) was significantly better than the MVP group( no reflux 3 cases, trace regurgitation 8 cases, mild regurgitation 25 cases)( P 0. 05); the moderate to severe tricuspid regurgitation exemption rate of the MVP + TVP group was higher than that of the MVP group[94. 7%( 36 /38) vs 77. 3%( 34 /44) ]( P 0. 05); The 5-year survival rates of the two groups were 95. 4%( 42 /44) and 100. 0%( 38 /38),the difference was not statistically significant( P 0. 05). Conclusion For patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation and mild functional tricuspid regurgitation,TVP should be performed actively during MVP,which can significantly improve the cardiac function and postoperative survival rate.
