An in Vitro Study of the Anti-cytomegalovirus Effect of Chlorogenic Acid

Objective To study the in vitro anti-cytomegalovirus effect and the security of chlorogenic acid. Methods The 0% toxic dose(TD0),minimum effective concentration(MEC) and therapeutic index(TI) of anti-cytomegalovirus activity by chlorogenic acid were detected with cytopathic assay and MTT method.Ganciclovir,Jinyebaidu(JYBD) and honeysuckle were used as the control drugs for comparison. Results The TD0 of ganciclovir,JYBD,honeysuckle and chlorogenic acid were 10,3 000,3 000 and 100 μg·mL-1,the MEC were 10,300,3 000 and 1 μg·mL-1,TI were 1,10,1 and 100,respectively. Conclusion The cytotoxicity of chlorogenic acid is more obvious than that of JYBD and honeysuckle,but the anti-cytomegalovirus effect is more effective,and it has the highest TI.Therefore,chlorogenic acid has the potential advantages of anti-cytomegalovirus effect.
