A View on Syntactic and Semantic Structure Relation of “VP+shèn/jí” and Part of Speech of “Shèn/Jí” from Historical Evolution

“shèn/jí”are in common used as adverbs in Chinese after mediaeval times,but they still often appear in“VP+shèn/jí”,in which they have to be considered as adjectives.This usage is the remains from old Chinese when“shèn/jí”,were used as adjectives.“V+shèn/jí”,should be ana- lyzed as“subject-predicate”,and“shèn/jí”,are used to explain the state of the VP.
