A Causative Category Yi(以)and Yi Disposal Sentences

Xiong Zhongru Chinese Department of Anhui Normal University, Wuhu Anhui 241000
The disposal sentence is a causative one headed by a causative category with a special phonetic form. Yi(以) is a causative category. Hence, the construction with it is a disposal one. The evidence for Yi to be a causative category is the deletability of Causee and the coordination of the whole string after it. The role of Yi is to support the derivation. When the matrix verb can move into the causative category, the insertion of Yi is forbidden; otherwise, the insertion of Yi is required.
