The Stylistic Differences and Causal Marker Shiyi

Zhang Yaru;College of Chinese Studies,Beijing Launguage and Culture University;  
Taking the ancient writings Zuo Zhuan(左传)and Guodian Chu Jian(郭店楚墓竹简)as research objects,this paper discusses the differences of use frequency,syntactic position and semantic types of the causal marker shiyi(是以)in these two books and indicates that these differences are determined by the stylistic differences between the narrative and argumentative styles,and that style is an important factor affecting the usage of the causal marker shiyi.
