Objective To investigate the anti-obese effect of masson pine pollen water-extract(PWE) in mice fed high fat diet. Methods Sixty male-KM mice(body weight was 19±1g) were divided randomly into six groups: basic diet group, high fat group, orlistat group(0.05g/kg bw?d),PWE low, middle and high(0.0625,0.125,0.25g/kg bw?d) groups.Body weights were recorded every 3 d.After 6 w of treatment, serum total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and adipokines levels were measured. The contents of carnitine palmityl transferase(CPT-I) in liver and adipose tissue were tested. The gene expression of CPT-I in liver was detected by RT-PCR.Results All three-dose PWE groups had significant effects on reduction of body weight.PWE reduced the contents of TC,TG in serum, and increased the contents of HDL-C in serum.PWE significantly increased the contents of CPT-I in liver and adipose tissue, especially in the middle-dose group.PWE also significantly up-regulated CPT-1 mRNA expression in liver. Conclusion Early treatment of PWE has significantly anti-obese effects in mice fed high fat diet.[ACTA NUTRIMENTA SINICA,2013,35(2):195-198]
