Research on the bell inlet passage height of large low-head pumping station

In order to analyze the effect of the bell inlet passage height upon the performance,using of Fluent software to solve RANS and standard k-ε model,the internal flow fields of three bell inlet passages were numerical simulation computed and the hydraulic model tests were carried out.Large amounts of data of flow fields were collected.Contrasting and analysis show that the flow passage height(H) and the clearance from floor to inlet pipe (h2) may be reduced in large scale by appropriate optimization.When H/D≤1.0,h2/H≤0.35,pumping stations still might have good economic and technical index.
