Study on spontaneous combustion of low-rank coal pile

Based on energy conversion and accumulation conditions of coal self-heating process and Frank-Kamenetskii theory, characteristics of low-rank coal pile spontaneous combustion were investigated. Differential thermal analysis(DTA) and a constant temperature heating system were used to study the coal pile CSIT. The results show that coal sample heating process can be divided into four stages by analyzing different environmental conditions as well as verification experiments,that coal pile volume is the main factor affecting the CSIT, that moisture contained in coal sample has a significant influence on the temperature-time curve,and that small volume laboratory tests of coal samples can be used to predict effectively the up-scale coal pile CSIT.
