The Alteration of Some Trace Elements and Its Clinical Significance in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Wang nanping, Liu Furen Department of Dermatology, Second Affiliated Hospital, Xi'an Medical University.
Some trace elements in serum and hair of 40 patients with SLE were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results showed that Zn either in serum or in hair of patients with SLE was significantly decreased than those of healthy controls, and a further decrease was found in active patients. It suggested that SLE may present with a low Zn level whicn was reiarea to the activity of the disease. It is not caused by the therapeutic effect of corticosteroid, but may be related with its redistribution caused by LEM.
