Study on Lectin Receptors in Squamous Cell Carcinomas.

Gu Jun ,Chen Ming,Zhang Shimin et al. Changhai Hospital ,the Second Military Medical University.
Receptors of 6 kinds of lectin in squamous cell car cinoma ( SCC ) and keratoacanthoma (KA) were studied by ABC method. The results showed that the expressions of PNA and RCA-1 receptors were significantly different between SCC and KA. There was almost no PNA receptor expression in SCC, but after digestion with neuraminidase, PNA became positive in SCC. It suggested that no PNA receptors expression do not result from lack of PNA receptors, but are due to the masking of receptor site by terminal residues of sialic acid. The differences of PNA and RCA-1 expression are useful in differential diagnosis between SCC and KA.
