Objective To analyze the HPV genotypes,Epidemiologjical characteristics and the clinical outcome in males with condyloma acuminatum( CA) in Conghua district. Methods PCR-reverse dot blot hybridization was used to genotype HPV in 307 males with CA. Personal history of each patient was recorded. If no relapse, followed up ended 6 months after treatment. Afterward the clinical outcome was analyzed. Results Among the 307 patients,281 cases were HPV positive. 91. 81% of patients( 258/281) were positive for lowrisk HPV genotypes, mainly HPV6,11,while high-risk HPV genotypes accounted for 47. 69%( 134/281),mainly HPV52,16. Patients with single HPV infections were 152 cases, including 132 low-risk HPV infections and 20 high-risk HPV infections. One hundred and twenty-nine cases were HPV co-infections,including 3 cases of high and high-risk HPV infections,15 cases of low and low-risk infections and 111 cases of high and low-risk HPV infections. Positive rates for high-risk HPV did not differ among age groups( P 0. 05). The positive rates for high-risk HPV genotypes were higher in patients with co-infections than in that with single infections( P 0. 01). Prevalence of HPV infection was higher in subjects aged 21 to 30 years, then decreased as aging. Relapse occurred in 55 cases( 31. 98%,55/172). 5 out of 26 cured patients were positive for HPV genotypes. Conclusion Most of low-risk and high-risk genotypes in males with CA are HPV6,11,and HPV52,16,respectively. Subjects aged 21 to 30 years have the highest infection rate and most of them have a history of unclean sexual conduct. To reduce the incidence of CA,we should strengthen the knowledge of HPV and CA in these populations.
