Clinical Observation on the Treatment of 80 Patients with Chronic Urticaria with Levocetirizine Combined with Desloratadine

HENG Kun;Department of Dermatology,Guang'an People's Hospital;
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of levocetirizine combined with desloratadine for chronic urticaria. Methods Two hundred and twenty forty patients with chronic urticaria were randomly divided into three groups. Control group 1( 80 cases) was given oral levocetirizine and control group 2( 80 cases),oral desloratadine; The treatment group( 80 cases) was given oral levocetirizine and desloratadine alternately. The treatment course was 18 months. Results In the first and third month of treatment,the patients' compliance rates were significantly higher in the treatment group than in the control groups( P = 0. 019,0. 013). Moreover,the efficacy was higher in the treatment group than in the control groups after 3-month treatments( P = 0. 001). However,the patients' compliance rates,efficacy and the rates of adverse reactions did not differed in these three groups after the treatments for 6 months to 18 months( P 0. 05). The adverse reaction rates were low in all groups. Conclusion In comparison with levocetirizine or desloratadine alone,combination of levocetirizine and desloratadine displays superior efficacy and high patients' compliance rates in short term,but not in long term for chronic urticaria. This combination therapy is safe,and worthwhile for the clinicians to try.
