STUDY ON DYNAMICS OF REAR-AXLE SUSPENSION OF A VEHICLE

An important field in vibration engineering is the dynamics of mechanical systems with clearance and constraint.The model of one-degree-of-freedom system of rear-axle suspension of a vehicle is considered.Dynamic equation of the system with a non-linear elastic constraint is derived and Poincaré map is established numerically.Bifurcations and chaos of the system are investigated by numerical simulations and analytical method.The course from either quasi-periodic or period-doubling state to chaos are discussed.It is proved that some courses to chaos in the suspension system are non-typical.It is possible to optimize parameters of a practical system by investigation of bifurcation and chaos.
