APPLICATION OF GENERALIZED DEMODULATION TIME-FREQUENCY ANALYSIS METHOD TO THE PROCESSING OF MODULATED SIGNALS

A new signal processing method-time-frequency analysis based on generalized demodulation is introduced and applied to the processing of modulated signals. Generalized demodulation is used to transform the signal with time-frequency distributions in curves into the signal with time-frequency distributions in lines parallel to the time coordinate axis. Selecting the appropriate decomposition layer, the generalized demodulated signal is decomposed by the maximal overlap discrete wavelet packet and some single-component signals whose instantaneous amplitudes and frequencies are provided with physical senses can be obtained. The inverse generalized demodulation is then applied to the single-component signals, their instantaneous amplitudes and frequencies are computed and the integrity time-frequency distribution of the original signal is finally achieved. As an example, the method is applied to the amplitude-frequency modulation signal. The results demonstrate the modulation information of the signal can be extracted effectively.
