Dynamic reduction coefficients for a steel-concrete composite beam

Considering the slip between steel girder and concrete slab,the fundamental governing motion equations of a simply-supported steel-concrete composite beam were deduced and analyzed. On the above basis,considering the different mechanical characteristics between the composite beam and a common one,the dynamic stiffness reduction coefficient and frequency reduction coefficient applicable for the dynamic calculation of the composite beam were proposed and compared with those in the Code for design of steel structures. Then,the expressions of the two coefficients were deduced. The study showed that the expressions for static calculation from the Code for design of steel structures are not applicable for the calculation of the dynamic equivalent stiffness of the composite beam,otherwise a larger error can be caused.
