A finite element analysis of the vibration characteristics of a hard-coating cylindrical shell considering the strain dependence of hard coating

It's a challenge for the vibration analysis of a hard-coating cylindrical shell with the strain dependent characteristics of hard coating. In this work,considering the strain dependent characteristics,a self-compiled finite element program was developed which was used to calculate the vibration characteristics of the hard-coating cylindrical shell. Firstly,based on the polynomial characterization of strain dependent mechanical parameters of hard coating,a fournode composite cylindrical shell element with 36-degree of freedom was proposed to describe the hard-coating cylindrical shell structure. Then,the mass,stiffness matrix,and the load vector under the base excitation of the element were determined. Next,on the basis of determining the equivalent strain,the procedures of the solution of nonlinear vibration response and the resonant frequency were proposed using the Newton-Raphson method for the hard-coating cylindrical shell. Finally,the Ni Co Cr Al Y + YSZ hard coating cylindrical shell was used as an example to solve the linear and nonlinear vibration characteristics. And the linear results were compared with ANSYS to illustrate the rationality of the developed program preliminarily. The nonlinear results show that the hard-coating cylindrical shell presents a characteristics soft nonlinearity with the increase of excitation amplitude.
