Study on gas-liquid mass transfer in self-suctioning polymerization agitated reactor

In the research, mass transfer coefficients (KLa) of various type of agitators in a vertical cylindrical vessel were measured by pure oxygen absorption method, aad the power consumption were also determined. Influence of type of agitator and spacing of double-staged agitator on KLa was investigated. The results show that:(1) when H/D=1. 8(liquid depth/reactor diameter) , the KLa of double-staged agitator is greater than the KLa of single-staged agitator in the pure water-oxygen system. The double-staged agitator consisted of suction-shearing type A2 and circulation-suspen-sion type B is the optimal agitator. (2) The best mounted place is:a=360(up), b= 190(below). at this position, its KLa is 1. 20 times the size of the average. The relation between KLa and rotating speed(N and N* ) spacing (Δh) is obtained. (3)The relation between power consumption and rotation speedis linear function. The power consumption of double-staged A2 B type agitator is the smallest amongthe experimented agitators.As a result, the agitator A2 B is the best for PTEE production among the investigated agitators.
