Wet air oxidation of printing and dying wastewater

The wet air oxidation of printing and dying wastewater and its reaction kinetics were investigated in the present work. A COD removal of 56% was obtained after the wastewater was treated with wet air oxidation at 300 ℃ for 120 min. Furthermore, the biodegradability of the wastewater was improved from 0.04 to 0.40. The printing and dying wastewater contain many kinds of pollutants, such as dyestuff and dying auxiliary; some of the pollutants are easy to be oxidized, while the others are difficult to be oxidized. A kinetic model for the wet air oxidation of printing and dying wastewater was constructed on the basis of the reaction characters, and the model simulations were in good agreement with experimental data.
