Characteristics of the load-settlement of the piles in non-homogeneous soils

The behavior of the axial load-settlement of single pile in non-homogeneous foundation is a very important factor that should be considered in the design of pile foundations. The costly plate loading test is usually used to obtain the load-settlement curve of the pile. The model of the load transfer method is developed and the method of equal pile point settlement is used to calculate the axial load-settlement curve of the single pile. Also, a computer program is developed according to the method and the results are consistent with the field test data. The influences on load-settlement curve according to the parameters such as the pile length, the pile diameter and the elastic modulus of the pile are analyzed in the paper and some useful results are obtained.
