Shape design of femoral hip prosthesis

Under the compressive load on the manual hip joint prosthesis,when the femur and prosthesis were considered as concentric cylinders with perfectly bonded interface,a relatively perfect theoretical model simulating the interfacial stress transfer was established,and distributions of the interfacial shear and radial stresses with the axial positions were obtained.The maximum interfacial shear stress occurs at the position of z=0,namely,the cross section of the femur neck.The interfacial shear stress decreases exponentially with the increasing of z.It is important to keep the interfacial shear stress of the prosthesis/femur interface along the axial direction of the prosthesis constant and balanced with the pressure load at the position of z=0 on the prosthesis,thus local stress concentration and prosthesis sink can be avoided.When the shear stress values within the region of 0z0.1 m were assumed to be equal to that at the position of z=0.1 m,distributions of the prosthesis radius a with the axial positions were calculated,providing a theoretical reference for the design of the surface size of the prosthesis.
