Numerical simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer in double-regenerative rotary furnace

A comprehensive mathematical model of fluid flow,heat transfer and gas combustion in a reheating furnace was developed to describe the characteristics of double-regenerative rotary furnace with special structure.The standard κ-ε two-equation model was used for description of turbulent flow,the equilibrium mixture fraction probability density function(PDF) model for gas combustion,and the discrete ordinates(DO) model for radiation heat transfer.The numerical simulation showed that the hearth temperature was uniform,the combustion of carbon monoxide was adequate and the density distribution of carbon dioxide was even in the furnace.
