Cell search algorithm for IEEE 802.16e OFDMA systems

A novel cell search algorithm for IEEE 802.16e orthogonal frequency division multiplexing access(OFDMA) systems was proposed.The algorithm has two steps,i.e.downlink frame detection and cell ID identification.Based on the Euclidean distance in frequency domain,the frame detection algorithm considers the periodicity of the downlink preamble in time domain,thus efficiently improves the robustness of the detection procedure.A cell ID identification algorithm with adaptive-length correlator was proposed to greatly reduce the search time.System simulation shows that the proposed algorithm is robust and time efficient,and it is very feasible for OFDMA cellular systems,especially IEEE 802.16e OFDMA systems.
