Experimental study on utilization of metallic tailings as clay for cement clinker calcinations

Experiments were conducted using six kinds of metallic tailings as clay mixed with middle and high-calcium limestone on high-temperature resistance box-type furnace under different temperatures at laboratory in order to obtain the technology parameters and adaptability to different grade limestone of metallic tailings as clay for cement clinker calcinations.Free-CaO content of clinker samples were measured,and mineral component of clinker samples were qualitatively analyzed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results showed that qualified cement clinker all could be generated using six kinds of metallic tailings as clay mixed with middle and high-calcium limestone,and the calcination temperature of metallic tailings mixed with middle-and high-calcium limestone were lower 100~150 ℃ than that of clay;cement clinker could be sintered at 1 300 ℃ using metallic tailings mixed with middle-calcium limestone,whereas the calcination temperature of metallic tailings mixed with high-calcium limestone was 1 350 ℃.Thus metallic tailings are fit for cement clinker calcinations mixed with middle-calcium limestone.
