Low-complexity deblocking approach based on relationship between neighboring blocks

A removal method of blocking artifacts in decoded images was presented in order to reduce the computational complexity of deblocking.The algorithm works by removing redundant operations based on classification and analysis of relationship between adjacent blocks.By computing the values of multiple pixels around the blocks,five kinds of relationship were figured out.According to different effects on image quality,methods such as strong filter,weak filter and non-filter were applied to the block boundaries.Comparing with traditional methods,this method reduces a lot of redundant operations,and further simplifies the processing by taking the architecture of embedded system into account,which is the intended platform.Simulation shows that the proposed algorithm improves both the objective and subjective quality of reconstructed images,and runs much faster than other algorithms.
