Anti-texture-noise segmentation technique for color textile images

Based on the two distinctive features of textile images: 1) there are only a few dominant colors in textile images;2) the colors in textile images are sensitive to the inherent fabric texture,which known as "texture noise",a multiscale maximum a posterior(MAP) segmentation scheme based on a context model was proposed.First,the dominant colors and a uniform texture region in a textile image were extracted with human vision guidance.Initially a crude segmentation was processed at the lowest scale.By gradually increasing the scale,the segmentation result was recursively refined at each scale based on the context model.Experimental results showd that this algorithm can achieve good segmentation performance when tested on color textile images with texture noise,and that this algorithm can produce higher quality edge images when compared with the mean-shift algorithm and the multiscale block segmentation approach based on quadtree structure.
