Experimental study and numerical simulation of one dimensional heat and moisture transfer in soil

An experimental apparatus of one-dimensional heat and moisture transfer for the soil column was developed to study the influence of temperature change on water migration.Then soil water content and temperature distribution were measured along soil column.Experimental results indicated that heat transfer in soil was very slow,and temperature gradients were bigger near the heated place,meanwhile soil heat transfer went with moisture transfer.The distribution of water transfer was divided into three areas along soil column.The power of water transfer is temperature difference in the first area.The temperature difference affects soil-water potential,leads to water diffusion of heated place and makes the soil dry,heat resistance increase,thus affect heat transfer and temperature distribution of the soil.The experimental results were compared with the calculated results by using Philip water flux equation of one-dimensional model of heat and moisture transfer,and the deviation was larger.The calculated model has its internal shortcoming.
