Post-fire shear performance of bolted side-plated reinforced concrete beams

Four-point bending shear test was conducted for an unreinforced control beam,two BSP beams under room temperature and two post-fire BSP beams in order to study the post-fire shear performance of the reinforced concrete beams strengthened by bolted side-plating(BSP)technique.The failure modes,the load-displacement curves,and the strains of reinforcement and steel plates wereobserved.The variation of the shear capacity,stiffness and ductility as the depth of steel plates,types of anchor adhesive,and the temperature was analysed.Results show that the high temperature can decrease RC beams in shear capacity,ductilityand stiffness.Increasing plate depth can improve the shear capacity and the ductility of post-fire BSP specimens,and transform the failure modes from brittle shear-compression failure into ductile flexural failure.The magnesium oxychloride cement was more effective in the improvement of shear capacity and ductility at the expense of lower stiffness compared to the anchor adhesive of the HITRE 500.
