From "Luocha"(“罗刹”) to "Eluosi"(“俄罗斯”):The Early Contact between China and Russia in the Early Period of Qing Dynasty

Based on a thorough review of all the historical records concerning the name of "Luocha" during the early period of the Qing Dynasty,and a detailed research on the history of the early contact between China and Russia,the author presents a complete research on the origins of the two words "Luocha" and "Eluosi",concluding that the Chinese word "Luocha" derived from Solon(索伦族)word "Loca",which can trace its origin to the Russian words ловцы or ловчий meaning hunter,while the word "Eluosi" came of the Mongolian word "Oros" which was the name to call Russia.
