Study on Cerebral Blood Flow of Youth Auditory Cortexunder Different Frequent Sound Stimulation Using Arterial Spin Labeling Perfusion Weighted Imaging

Objective To study the changes of cerebral blood flow(CBF) of auditory cortex under stimulation of different frequency of sound using arterial spin labeling(ASL)perfusion weighted imaging(PWI).Methods13 young volunteers were examined using the GE Discovery 750 3.0 Teslasuperconductive MR system with 32 channels head coil from November 2015 to June 2016.All the volunteers were right-handed with normal hearing.Their internal auditory canals were scanned with 3 D-FIESTA.The whole brains were scanned with 3 D FSPGR.Non-stimulationarterial spin labeling(ASL) were acquired.Then ASL under low,middle and high frequency sound to bilateral ears were acquired respectively.After then,the ASL under stimulation to left ear and right ear separately were carried out.All the data were transferred to adw4.6 work station.CBF values of auditory cortexwere measured.Paired t-test was performedwith SPSS17.0 statistical software.Resultsthe CBF value of right temporal lobewas 73.31±10.99 ml/min/100 g with no sound stimulation.The left was 73.10±10.72 ml/min/100 g.There was no significant difference(p=0.3970.05).The CBF values of left temporal lobe were74.33 ± 11.76 ml/min/100 g,76.03±10.14 ml/min/100 g and 73.17±11.85 ml/min/100 gcorresponding to stimulating right ear with low,middle and high frequency sound.The CBF of right temporal lobe were70.46±11.52 ml/min/100 g,70.92±11.03 ml/min/100 g and 67.71±10.60 ml/min/100 gcorresponding to stimulating right ear with low,middle and high frequency sound.The CBF of left temporal with stimulation to right ear were higher than those of right temporal lobe(p0.05).The CBF values of righttemporal lobe were78.17±9.84 ml/min/100 g,74.69±10.57 ml/min/100 g and 74.51±14.79 ml/min/100 g with stimulation toleft ear.The CBF of lefttemporal lobewere 73.53±10.07 ml/min/100 g,70.00±10.62 ml/min/100 g and70.03±15.31 ml/min/100 g with stimulation to left ear.The CBF of right temporal lobe were higher than those of left temporal lobe(P0.05).CBF of left temporal lobe and right were 75.64±8.72 ml/min/100 g,75.52±8.93 ml/min/100 g with bilateral stimulation(p=0.480.05).Conclusions The CBF difference of both temporal lobes with different frequent sound stimulation can be detected using ASL.The non-invasive3 D whole-brain ASL technique can be used for measuring CBF in the auditory cortex with high reliability.
