Application of limestone slurry activated by CO_2 in the fluidized FGD process

In order to improve the reactivity of CaCO3 in a FGD process,CO2 gas was used to activate desulfurization slurry containing limestone.Higher desulfurization efficiency can be obtained in the semidry fluidized FGD process,for the solubility of CaCO3 was increased by the activation of CO2 gas.In a fluidized bed reactor with 12.5 cm in diameter and 1.1m in height,and coarse silica as fluidized particle,the semidry flue gas desulfurization experiments were conducted.The effects of activation time,approaching to saturation temperature,Ca/S and the diameter of absorbent on desulfurization efficiency were investigated.Experimental results show that,when Ca/S is 1.2,approaching to saturation temperature is 15~18 ℃,the diameter of absorbent is 64 μm,CaCO3 is used as absorbent and activated by CO2 with 3 hours,desulfurization efficiency of 92% can been obtained,which approaches to the desulfurization efficiency by using Ca(OH)2 as absorbent in the same conditions.
