The Application of Steady Heat Transfer Theory to the Calculation of Road Frost Penetration

Bing Wenshan (Harbin Architectural and Civil Engineering Institute)  
In this paper,based on steady heat transfer theory and assumptions of road temperature field in frost area,an approximate formula for frost penetration is presented.The experimental results show that the formula is applicable with given accuracy.As compared with some other formulas,the new formula,easier to calcu- late,can provide a theoretical basis for the frost action design of road pavement.
