Analysis of embankment settlement considering soil lateral dilation behavior

Based on soil lateral dilation behavior,this paper studies the effects of soil lateral dilation behavior on embankment settlement by means of the finite element method.The study results make it clear that soil lateral dilation behavior plays an important role in embankment settlement calculation,while the nonlinear constitutive model are adopted,it is more notable.Therefor,it should be carefully considered in the embankment design.
