Structural Analysis for Laser Cladding of WC-TiC-TaC/Co Based Carbide

Investigation on laser cladding of WC-TiC-TaC/Co based carbide on 55Si2Mn spring steel had been done. The properties of laser cladding layer had been analyzed by SEM and EPA. It is found that the cladding region of laser cladding layer consists of two sublayers, which is related to the physical properties of the cladding material. It shows the cracks in the laser cladding coating are mainly related to the sublayers structure. In order to enhance the quality of laser cladding layer the electromagnetic stirring method was put forward to make carbide particle phases distributed relatively uniformly in laser cladding layer.
