Study on Two Blank Design Methods for Deep Drawing Part

Two useful blank design methods were presented in this paper. One was based on the potential theory and boundary element method,in which the potential theory approximately described the material flow involved in deep drawing processes and the outermost contour of the blank shape was determined by gradually developing the sections that were generated at different heights on an irregular shaped component. The another was on the geometric mapping method, in which each mesh point on the deep drawing part was related to a certain point in the blank by the distance and direction that were calculated from the reference point to the point on the deep drawing part. The first layout method has been found more accurate than the second by experimental results as well as the so called "one step method".
