Technique of Transition Zone Freezing and Its Application to Worm Pair Contact

The contact of worm pairs is a 3-D stress problem. 3-D frozen slice method is the only feasible experimental method right now. In order to reduce the influences of large deformation and μ=0.5 on measurement precision of contact stresses in high temperature frozen, the low temperature frozen technique was studied and applied to the contact stress analysis of worm pairs. The contact lines, bending stress in the loaded teeth root,borne torsional moment of the tooth are obtained successfully.
