Reconstruction of Solid Model with Complex Profile Features

In reverse engineering,the feature-based model reconstruction is a significant method for the model reconstruction of structural machine parts.By using conventional design method as the reference,a novel approach was proposed to reconstruct the solid model with complex profile features by creating its section profile first.In this method,firstly,the data points in the section profile were ordered in sequence;the line types of profiles were recognized;the corresponding curves of the profiles were fitted satisfying the local and holistic constraints investigated automatically and interactively to make the section profiles effectively well-constrained,in succession,the relevant features were reconstructed according to the sweep parameters.Finally,the complex solid model was assembled with the Boolean operation based on the relationship among the primitive features originally.The method was profoundly researched and effectively achieved for reconstruction of section profiles with well-defined constraints considered.Experimental results have been presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of this method.
