Research on Algorithm to Compute Rotating Speed of Rotating Machinery Based on Digital Differential and Averaging Pulses

Rotating speed of rotating machinery is a very important characteristic parameter.There are two methods to compute rotating speed: one is contact method,which uses photoelectric pulse encoder to compute;the other is non-contact method,which obtains one or several pulses per revolution through transducer,consequently gets one pulse sequence,then utilizes polynomial curve fitting,step-by-step,to compute the first derivative to obtain rotating speed.After further research,one simple but effective method was adopted: to the pulse sequence obtained in the non-contact method,the first digital differential,averaging pulses and digital average were introduced to compute rotating speed.It has less computation and is very simple.The testing results are very good.
