Comprehensive Fuzzy Evaluation of Cutting Tool Performance in Milling of Aviation Titanium Alloy Components

There was a lack of systematic method to evaluate cutting tool performance in domestic aviation manufacturing industries till now,which resulted in a increasing of cutting tools cost,unstable machining quality and low machining efficiency etc. Considering the processing characteristics of aviation titanium alloy components,comprehensive fuzzy evaluation models of cutting tool performance for rough and finish milling were established based on fuzzy mathematical method. A testing benchmark with some typical difficult-to-machine features extracted from aviation complex integrated components was designed,and its processing route was developed. Finally,experiments of milling the benchmark were carried out,and then the comprehensive fuzzy evaluation models were used to evaluate the milling tools. The results show that the models are convenient and effective to evaluate milling tools performance,which provides a new method for the selection and evaluation of milling tools.
