Objective:To study changes of plasma neurotensin level and their clinical significance in patients with cerebral infarction.Method:Seventy-four patients with cerebral infarction were enrolled in this study. Of these 74 patients 46 patients had diabetes,45 had hypertension.Sixty-six healthy individuals were served as controls.Neurotensin level were measured by radioimmunoassay.Result: In the test group, levels of NT increased more than in the control group(P0.0001). They started to increase significantly during the first day, and began to decrease on the 7th day later. There was a significant correlation between those indicators and some complicated diseases of cerebral infarction. Conclusion:The level changes of NT with cerebral infarction were most significant on the 7th days, and gradually recovered to normal levels within 15 days. NT may be used as laboratory markers for ranking the severity of patient′s condition and bulk of cerebral infarction.
