The Layout of Weichang and Rise and Fall of Its Animals' Resources in the Qing Dynasty

Weichang(围场),in the north Great wall,was located in the area of mountains and forests,with plentiful resources of animals and plants.Weichang had its layout and each section had respective function,with the importance of its political and military positions.Qing court had the right to decide the utilizing and occupying forms of Weichang's resources.The hunting with military-maneuvering style in the Kangxi and Qianlong periods played an important role in the decline of the animals' resources.After the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods,the hunting stopped and the military function of Weichang disappeared,but this could not hold back the deterioration of the animals' resources.With the changes of the layout of Weichang,the structure and allocation form of the existing resources,Weichang system collapsed eventually.
