The Softening Property of Ramie Fiber Treated by DMSO/TEAC

In order to reduce the crystallinity and improve softening property of ramie fibers,dimethyl sulfoxide( DMSO) and tetraethyl ammonium chloride( TEAC) were used to treat ramie fibers in this paper. The effects of temperature,time,the mass percent of DMSO and TEAC on the properties of ramie fiber were studied,and conclusions had been drawn as following: The breaking tenacity of ramie fibers was descending with the increasing of temperature,time and the mass percent of DMSO and TEAC; the breaking elongation of ramie fibers increased with the increasing of the mass percent of DMSO,while it increased firstly and then decreased with the increasing of other factors; the breaking rotation number of ramie fibers was in a quick uptrend and then keep stable with the mass percent of TEAC,while it increased firstly and then decreased with the increasing of the other factors; the optimum conditions were under 60℃ temperature,30 minutes long and 30% DMSO and 4% TEAC concentration.
