Characteristics of Some Plasma Biochemical Parameterduring Perinatal Period in Cow

Twelve first-fetus cows were used in this study to evaluate the changes of some plasma biochemical parameter before and after parturition in cow.The blood samples were collected via the superior vena cava at 10 day and 3 day before the expected date of childbirth,day 3,day 10 and day 17 after parturition.①From the 10 day of expected date of childbirth to day 17 after parturition,blood sugar was decreased significantly.②The urea-nitrogen level was decreased by 46.08%(P0.01),compared to control.As it increased by13.43%(P0.01)and 3.85%at the day 3 and day 10 after parturition,also the day 17 was decreased by 11.16%.③During this phase,the GPT activity at the day 3 a before parturition was increased by 30.99%(P0.01),whereas it were decreased by 29.11% and 25.2%(P0.01) at the day 3 and day 17 after parturition,respectively.④Compared with 10 day before expected date of childbirth,the cholesterol levels were decreased by 31.35%(P0.01),13.41%(P0.051)and 10.40%(P0.01) on day 3 before expected date of childbirth and day 3,day 7 after parturition,while it was increased by 10.40% in day 17 after parturition.These results indicate that the blood sugar,cholesterol,urea-nitrogen and GPT activity can change the carbohydrate,lipoid and protein metabolism to adapt the physiological changes of lactation.
